Promote Safety During National Safety Month

by todd 15. June 2011 10:00

When it comes to your people, nothing’s more important than their safety. Safety policies and procedures make staff feel comfortable coming to work and end up saving the company time, money, and headaches. Since June is National Safety Month, now is a great time to review your safety policies and consider how you can improve upon them.

To promote safety in your organization, we’ve put together a few suggestions that will keep safety in the forefront of every employee’s mind.

Actively Communicate about Safety. Maintaining active communication about your safety goals and progress is imperative to keeping safety front of mind for your entire team. Create and post office signs around the building which state your safety goals and give status updates of your progress. To communicate with the entire organization, add a section to your company newsletter or intranet to share safety updates.

Promote Safety Daily. Keep safety in front of your staff – literally. Equip each employee with a safety themed lanyard or safety badge reels to attach to their ID card. The “Safety First” messages on these ID card accessories will constantly remind employees of the organization’s number one priority: keeping them safe. If you have a special safety program slogan, create your own custom lanyards or custom badge reels.

Reward Team Safety. Keep your teams striving to create a safe environment by rewarding their efforts. Celebrate the achievement of safety goals and the innovation of new safety procedures as a team. At a regular team meeting, review the goals and give employees a small safety themed lapel pin or company logo gift. The positive reinforcement will have the entire team striving to repeat or improve their achievement.

Make safety front of mind for employees, and you’ll create a safety-conscious culture that is bound to lead to increased productivity and employee engagement!

Top 10 Workplace Safety Tips for National Safety Month

by david 24. May 2011 07:54
david

June is National Safety Month, and previous Identify Newsletters on the subject have recommended you take the month of June to refocus your safety efforts. This year, make it a goal to implement all of our top ten safety tips before the end of the month to help you create and maintain a safe environment for your employees.

1. Create a safety team. Form a team of employees who are enthusiastic about safety, and give them first aid, CPR, and fire prevention training.

2. Wear your ID card. When employees wear their ID cards, it’s easier to spot visitors and know if employees are in the correct location. Encourage all employees to wear their ID cards when in the building by giving them the proper ID card accessories.

3. Have a fire drill. When was the last time you had a fire drill at your organization? Schedule a fire drill for your entire organization to ensure employees know how to safely exit the building and where to meet once outside. Practice for inclement weather, such as tornados, too.

4. Choose breakaway lanyards. The release on breakaway lanyards is an added safety feature that protects the individual wearing the lanyard. If the lanyard were to be caught in a piece of machinery or wrapped around the individual’s neck, the lanyard would release and prevent injury.

Shop Safety Themed Products

5. Create an emergency communication system. Preparing for the worst is the best way to ensure the safety of your employees in an emergency. Create a communication system that you can use throughout your building if you were to have a safety breach or inclement weather. Test the system periodically to make sure it is in working order.

6. Implement a visitor management system. Part of creating a safe work environment is knowing who is in your building. A visitor management system tracks visitors and supplies them with an ID badge to wear while in the building.

7. Safeguard employee ID card information. If your employee ID cards have RFID chips in them, protect against identity theft with an RFID Secure badge holder. The holder blocks RFID signals and will ensure employee and company information isn’t stolen.

8. Don’t stand on swivel chairs. Train employees how to properly use equipment around the office and provide any tools they may need to safely do a job. For instance, you may need to purchase a step stool to help employees safely reach items on high shelves.

9. Restrict access to your building. Proximity ID cards sync with your access control system and only allows authorized individuals into your building. This is a simple way to protect your staff from any outside threats.

10. Reward great safety records. An effective way to improve safety in your organization is to reward safe behaviors. Recognize teams and individuals who have outstanding safety records and accomplishments with lapel pins or employee awards from Baudville, our sister company.

Recycled ID Card Accessories for Earth Day

by Falon 18. April 2011 08:55

Earth Day is this Friday, April 22, and many schools and companies will be celebrating with education and service projects. Earth Day is a worldwide event and many organizations use this day to demonstrate their commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.

Even your ID accessories can promote your commitment to the environment for this year’s Earth Day. We have products that are made from recycled materials, so you can feel good about your ID card accessories.

Shop Protective Badge HoldersOur Recycled Custom Lanyards are the most popular eco-friendly option in our store. Each lanyard is made from recycled soda bottles! Similar to our other custom lanyards, you can choose the color, attachment, and message for this lanyard. This option is perfect for Earth Day and every day!

You can display your ID card in a Biodegradable Badge Holder. These badge holders are made from a corn-based film, so they won’t fill up a landfill. The biodegradable badge holder is available in three different attachment options, too.

Create eco-friendly ID cards with our Recycled Name Badge Stock. You can create 300 badges with one box of this paper, which is made from 100% recycled paper stock. This paper option is compatible with all printers and perforates for easy badge assembly.

At IDville, we’re doing our part to conserve the environment by using paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) for all of our catalogs. The FSC logo on IDville catalogs lets you know that the paper materials came from a forest that meets the FSC forest management standards. Paper materials for IDville are harvested from forests in Wisconsin, which has more FSC certified forestland than any other state and adds more new fiber than it harvests every year.

We’re doing our small part to protect and conserve the environment, and we hope you will, too! Happy Earth Day!

Proper Display of ID Cards Improves Security

by todd 24. January 2011 09:21

Photo ID cards are an important part of a secure facility. But if ID cards aren’t displayed properly, they provide little if any help to your security efforts. To encourage students, staff, and employees to properly display their ID cards, you need to provide the necessary ID card accessories.

Carabiner Badge Reels – This badge reel is designed with a twist-free base that will keep your ID card facing forward at all times.

Strap Clips – The most popular (and affordable!) ID card accessory securely attaches your ID card to anything without permitting it to spin. Clipped to a shirt pocket or lapel, a strap clip will keep the ID card facing forward and easily visible.

Magnetic Badge Holders – Using magnets to display your ID badge is another way to ensure ID cards are always facing the right direction.

If you are still working through the ID card design process, consider making a two-sided ID card. Duplicate the most important information on both sides of the card, so it can be properly displayed even if it twists.

Promote your Organization’s Culture with ID Cards & Accessories

by david 20. December 2010 09:07

ID cards are an important part of an organization’s safety and security plan, but they can also be used for the “lighter” side of business: promoting your culture.

This month’s Identify Newsletter introduced our sister company, Baudville, and how to combine its employee recognition products with identification and safety for a better work environment. You can read the complete newsletter here, and put a few of the following tips in to practice in the new year!

Promote your culture with ID cards:

 Use your ID card design to show off the personality of your organization. Incorporate a picture of a favorite spot within your facility, use lots of color and allow individuals to have a little fun with their ID picture.

 Equip all employees or students with fun accessories for ID card display. Create custom lanyards for your organization. You can even personalize each lanyard with staff names! Themed lanyards and themed badge reels can also promote your culture and bring a little fun to every day at work.

 Maintain a small inventory of themed lanyards and badge reels, and give employees access to it. Encourage employees to select a new item on a regular basis. This will help to keep them motivated to wear their ID card.

 Have employees, staff or students display their recognition and award lapel pins on a specialty badge holder. Pin Display badge holders hold both your ID card and lapel pins.

Something new is coming to IDville!

Strap Clips: An Affordable Display Option

by david 23. November 2010 15:09
david

ID cards provide valuable visual identification. They make it easy to know who does and does not belong in your building. Once you create your ID cards, you must provide ways for your employees and staff to display them.

If you have a tight budget for ID accessories, strap clips are an ideal display option for you and your organization. As low as $0.18 each, strap clips can attach an ID card to anything!

Strap clips are commonly used to attach ID cards to shirt pockets, belts and even purses. The strap clip and ID card should be worn so the ID card is easily visible and accessible.

In order to attach an ID card to a strap clip, the card must have a slot punch. Otherwise, you have no way to connect the ID card and strap clip.

You have several strap clip options. You can order strap clips:

- In a color that coordinates with your ID card design
- To hold more than one ID card with extra length.
- With a rubber tip grip so you don’t damage clothing.
- To be worn on a belt.
