Promote Student ID Cards with Custom Lanyards

by todd 3. March 2011 17:01

It can be impossible to get children to do what you want them to do. I should know - I have three daughters! Each of them has their own amazing personality…and a stubborn streak of independence. Sometimes it feels like they fight everything I say!

Getting students to wear their ID cards can also feel like a never ending battle. Many schools have ID card policies in place requiring students to wear their ID cards or face repercussions. Schools can take a more positive approach to the situation by incentivizing kids to wear their ID cards with fun ID card accessories, like custom lanyards.

Custom lanyards are a great option for students. Lanyards are an appropriate display options for students because they keep student ID cards in constant view. You can also choose enhanced features like breakaway lanyards and antimicrobial lanyards that ensure children’s safety.

There are several ways you can encourage kids to wear their ID cards with custom lanyards. Here are a few of my suggestions. Share your own strategies and ideas in the comments!

 Promote the School Mascot. Tap into students’ school spirit with custom lanyards that feature your school mascot, logo, and colors. These custom lanyards will be both a sign of safety and school spirit.

 Create Sports Lanyards. Encourage students to support their favorite school team by creating custom lanyards for each sport. Students can even rotate their custom lanyards according to the seasons!

 Classroom Lanyards. Promote camaraderie among students by creating custom lanyards for classrooms or grade levels. For instance, all students in the third grade can wear purple lanyards that say “Bertha Vos Third Grader” and the fourth graders can have a different color. The colors will also help teachers and staff easily identify children.

 Flair for Custom Lanyards. Once you’ve created your own custom lanyards  (the options are endless!), let students decorate their lanyards with lapel pins and stickers. Create classroom rewards that students can display on their custom lanyards to create an ID card accessory that not only promotes safety, but pride as well!

Custom Lanyard Options Promote Safety

by david 15. December 2010 08:14

Custom lanyards are a popular ID card accessory for events, schools, frontline employees, businesses and more. Custom lanyards allow you to promote your organization and always keep safety a priority. IDville has unique custom lanyard options that can meet your organization’s needs and protect your staff and students.

Create Custom Lanyards for All Occasions

 Lanyard/Badge Reel Combo – Great for conferences and events, a lanyard/badge reel combo makes name badges and materials more accessible to attendees.

 USB Lanyard – Perfect for teachers, IT and data heads, the USB lanyard allows you to take your data with you wherever you go.

 Breakaway – The breakaway lanyard option is an important safety feature. If the lanyard gets caught on an item, the breakaway prevents the wearer from choking. Breakaway is available as an add-on to several of our custom lanyard options.

 Child Size Lanyard – Keep children safe with a lanyard designed just for them. The smaller size fits children better and properly displays their identification.

 Eco-Friendly Lanyard – Create your custom lanyard out of recycled plastic soda bottles! With the eco-friendly lanyard, you can promote both your organization and your dedication to the environment.

Custom Lanyard Options

by todd 21. September 2010 09:55

Custom lanyards are a popular and affordable way to get your employees and students to wear their ID cards, but the creation process can be overwhelming! There are many decisions to make for even a simple lanyard, and it can be difficult to know what features are best for your needs. This post will be a guide for your custom lanyard order and provide valuable insight into lanyard creation.

Create Custom Lanyards for All Occasions

  • Quantity. How many lanyards do you want to buy? This will quickly narrow down the number of choices at the Lanyard Wizard.
  • Budget. How much do you want to spend? The prices are per lanyard, but quantity discounts are available.
  • Timeline. When do you need the lanyards? Our Quick Ship Lanyards ship to you in just one day, but the Smart Buy Lanyards take 4-6 weeks. Be sure you choose the lanyard that will deliver your custom lanyard order in time.
  • Style. Do you have a lanyard style preference? I personally like the Vivid Color Lanyards because you can match colors and the fabric is very soft. We also have Embroidered Lanyards and Recycled Lanyards if an eco-friendly option is important.
  • Size. What width lanyard do you need? If the lanyards will be used for a long period of time, I recommend our thicker styles for long lasting comfortable wear.
  • Breakaway. The breakaway feature on a custom lanyard is for security purposes. This style is typically used in manufacturing environments and elementary schools. You can read more about the breakaway in our Knowledge Center.
  • Attachment. Standard metal attachments are available for all of our custom lanyards, and it includes a split ring, j-hook, and bulldog clip. Consider how you want the ID card displayed before making your selection. If you have a one-sided ID card, I recommend the bulldog clip because it won’t turn your ID card around.
  • Length. Are you buying custom lanyards for children? Then you will want the child-size lanyard length.
  • Design. What do you want your custom lanyard to say? You have many color, font and graphic choices, or you can add your own logo. This is the fun part!

That’s it! You’ve now created your custom lanyards!

Custom Lanyards and ID Badges Improve ArtPrize Experience

by david 15. September 2010 08:48

IDville has a long history of charitable and community involvement. Some of our products have even been used by the crew at Extreme Makeover: Home Edition! This month, our identification products are being put to use by a large event in our backyard of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

This year, the world’s largest art prize event is identifying key participants to improve the event experience for thousands of expected visitors. In 2010, ArtPrize will bring together over 1,700 artists and 1,500 volunteers. New this year, the staff at ArtPrize will use ID Maker software to create name badges for all of the participating artists and volunteers. Each group also has their own custom lanyards.

Shop ID Cards and Accessories for your Event

The ArtPrize staff believes the identification will encourage increased interaction among volunteers, staff, artists and visitors, making the event more memorable for all involved.

As part of their official uniform, ArtPrize volunteers will wear a lanyard with their name prominently displayed in a badge holder. Amelea Pegman, ArtPrize Volunteer Services and Community Development, expects the identification will help to improve the experience for both volunteers and visitors by making volunteers more approachable.

“It will be wonderful and helpful for our volunteers to be identifiable - by name - when they are out working with visitors and representing ArtPrize. IDs will also help to create that special feeling of importance and involvement that we want for our volunteers!”

The badges and custom lanyards will be especially useful identifying volunteers at the many ArtPrize events. “There will be hundreds of people at each of the events that I manage, so having our volunteers, staff, and interns clearly marked with their ID badges and custom lanyards will help our guests identify those individuals who can best enhance and better their event experience,” said Noddea Skidmore, ArtPrize Event Producer.

ArtPrize artists, who exhibit their work in venues throughout downtown Grand Rapids, will also wear clear identification. “The badges and lanyards will be a great way to increase the visibility of artists at the event. Direct interaction between artists and the audience is one of the joys of ArtPrize, and with the artists wearing easily identifiable badges, it'll happen even more this year,” said Kevin Buist, Artist Relations.

While you may not realize it, identification is an important part of successful events outside the office. ID cards serve as a communication tool to identify staff, guests, and participants, and they can improve visibility and approachability of key staff members.

For more information on using ID cards and identification in your events, visit our Reference Library for our Event ID Guidelines. Read more about our involvement with ArtPrize in the Baudville, Inc. Newsroom.

Custom Lanyards Improve Photo ID Card Wear-ability

by david 13. July 2010 08:00

Once you design and print your photo ID cards, you need to provide a method for your employees, students or staff to display them. Lanyards are one of the most popular ID card display accessories, and many customers prefer to create a custom lanyard for their organization.

Around IDville, our employees use lanyards to express their individual style. Employees get to pick the lanyard of their choice from our sample wall, and many change their lanyard on a regular basis depending on their mood or outfit. Most employees prefer our premium theme lanyards because of their fun and colorful designs.

I recommend giving your employees the same choice and flexibility when it comes to their everyday lanyard. Get a bundle of different lanyard styles, and let individuals pick the one they prefer. When employees like their lanyards, they’re more likely to wear their photo ID card.

If you want to have a more uniform look to your employee lanyards, create a custom lanyard for your organization. IDville’s Lanyard Wizard walks you through the process to choose the lanyard style that best fits your organization’s needs and budget. You’ll need to know if you want a full color lanyard, like our themed lanyards, or a one color imprint on a colored lanyard.

The next step in creating a custom lanyard is selecting an attachment. The attachment connects to your ID card and impacts how it is displayed. Take your card’s orientation, whether it is one sided or two and its most frequent uses into consideration when you select your attachment.

After that, have fun designing your lanyard! I recommend incorporating your organization’s logo, mascot or corporate values into your custom lanyard design. Since employees will wear their lanyards around the office, in front of customers, visitors and when they go out to lunch., you should utilize the custom lanyards to promote your organization’s image.
