Excuse me, I lost my ID card!

by david 23. October 2012 09:56
If you don’t currently print ID cards onsite at your office, hearing “I’ve lost my ID card” from your employees is probably a nightmare. When employees lose an ID card that means you have to not only wait days or potentially weeks to receive the ID, it also means that you have to reach to your outside vendor and send out information for the new ID. Voter ID cards are an essential part of the upcoming election

by david 18. September 2012 09:05
One pressing issue surrounding the upcoming presidential election is that of voter identification. Several states have recently implemented controversial voter ID laws that raise questions and concerns for many citizens. What is considered proper identification? What about those currently registered to vote who do not have the proper ID cards? And, most importantly, what about those people that will be excluded from the pending election due to improper identification – the elderly, impoverished, and students?
More than 30 states have enacted a voter identification law, aimed at preventing voter fraud. Those that oppose the laws are low-income voters and minorities who might not have access to a state-issued ID card. Proponents of the law argue that proper identification is a critical way to avoid voter fraud.

Two may be better than one!

by Falon 7. August 2012 09:35
Single-sided or dual-sided? It’s one of the first questions you should ask yourself when purchasing a photo identification printer.  Depending on how you intend to use your ID cards will determine which type of printer you should purchase.
The main different between the single and dual-sided printers is the amount of printing space per card. A one-sided card will have very limited space whereas a dual-sided card provides extra room for additional information. A dual-sided card has capabilities to add a barcode, magnetic stripe, or even a fingerprint for added security. On the back of the card you can also add valuable information that you don’t want displayed on the front such as, emergency contact information, mission statement, or an address where lost cards can be returned to.
  Shop our ID Maker Printers.
Not sure which ID Maker System or Printer is right for you?
Request more information today!
If you plan to display your ID cards with a lanyard or badge reel, you may want to duplicate important information from the front of the ID card, to the back. Cards can easily get turned over and you want to make sure that the proper information is always displayed.
Not sure that you’ll need a dual-sided printer? We have another option! You can choose an ID card printer that is field-upgradable. These printers can be converted from a one-sided to a two-sided printer, like our ID Maker Printer, without a major expense to you.

2012 Society for Human Resource Management Annual Conference a success for IDville!

by Kayla 29. June 2012 15:15
I just returned from the 2012 Society for Human Resources Management Annual Conference and it was a huge success! It was a packed show with over 14,000 attendees and 650 exhibitors. "The exhibit hall was like the size of a small city with vendors from around the country giving away awesome gifts while pitching their products and services. It was impressive!” commented David, Identification Expert. This is the second year that IDville has particiapted in this conference and it's been a wonderful experience.
IDville participated as an exhibit sponsor June 24-26 in Atlanta at the Georgia World Congress Center. We were able to speak with over 1,100 HR professionals about the importance of photo identification and security in the workplace.
Like our Facebook Fan Page!
Falon, Dan, David, & Kayla enjoying SHRM 2012!
As a new addition to the IDville team, it was great to meet new people and see their excitement towards implementing and/or updating their current photo identification system. It seemed as though many of the HR professionals I chatted with were either frustrated with their outdated ID system or their current system was simply too complicated. By having our ID Maker Systems on hand we were able to perform live demos to show how easy it is to design and print IDs from your desktop.  To view sample ID cards, check out our ID card library.
Part of the fun was seeing the eagerness of the attendees to sign up for our raffle prizes! We raffled of 2 sets of 2 tickets to the world famous Georgia Aquarium and a $200 Visa gift card. Congratulations to Sandy from Georgia and Laura from Michigan. They were our 2 lucky winners for the aquarium tickets. Also congratulations to Rod from Nebraska who won our $200 Visa gift card. Enjoy! Be sure to “like” our Facebook Fan Page and check out photos from the conference.
I look forward to attending the Society for Human Resource Management Annual Conference in 2013 in the wonderful city of Chicago and seeing some familiar faces!

Your “Top 5 Questions Regarding Photo ID Systems” Answered

by david 15. May 2012 12:03
Whether you’re a government agency or healthcare provider; educational institution or manufacturing facility; your business has a compelling reason to use photo identification. Determining if your company has a need for a photo identification system is easy. The time consuming part is deciding what kind of photo ID system to implement. Let me answer some of the most common questions I get asked as a System Expert.

 Shop Safety Badge Reels

1. What system will work best for my needs?
That depends. How many IDs do you plan to print in a year? Do you want single or dual-sided printed cards? Do you need a high level of security? Most importantly, what will your budget allow? No matter what features you need; we have the right photo ID system for you.

2. What does my Photo ID System include?
Everything you need to start creating and printing IDs right out of the box! Each of our photo ID systems includes our ID Maker Pro software, a card printer, a Cam, a white backdrop, (1) full-color YMCKO printer ribbon and 100-500 PVC ID cards.

3. What are the differences between PVC ID cards and laminate ID cards?
PVC vs. laminate ID cards: PVC ID cards must be printed using a photo ID printer with special printing technologies. Laminate IDs  can be printed from any inkjet or laser printer on our 40lb. photo-quality paper stock and then laminated using a laminator and laminates. PVC ID cards result in better image quality in turn giving your organization a sharper representation.

4. What do I need to ensure my IDs are visible? IDs may be worn around the neck, inside of a badge holder, or attached to a badge reel. Lanyards are worn around the neck and keep your ID visible on your chest. We offer many different colors and styles depending on your budget. Click here to see our all of our lanyards.

To keep your ID protected from the elements, keep it inside of a badge holder. Badge holders come in many different styles, from clear, to colored, to sealable, to hard plastic. Click here to view our badge holder selection.

Badge Reels are great for IDs being used with a time & attendance or door access system. Most retractable badge reels extend up to 36 inches, making your ID easily accessible and visible at the same time. You can even customize your badge reels with your company name and logo and even each individual team member's name. Click here to see all of our badge reel options.

5. I’m having issues? Can you help me?
Of course we can! Give us a call at 1-866-438-4553 or email us at Did you know we provide free lifetime support? You can also visit our tech support page to find electronic copies of your printer or software manual and trouble-shooting guides.

Does this answer all of your questions? I doubt it. That’s why our System Experts are here to help walk you through the process of purchasing a photo ID system. The ID Maker 2.0 software  gives you the tools you need to create bold, secure, and professional IDs right from your desktop. It’s that easy. Badge Reels Offer Function and Convenience for all Industries

by david 24. April 2012 07:00

As you begin to design ID cards for your organization, you should consider how your employees, students, or staff will wear their cards. After all, if your ID cards aren’t used by your employees, they won’t do your organization much good! Consider badge reels, a convenient and functional option for wearing ID cards, for every member of your team.

Badge reels extend up to 36 inches, so they are a preferred ID card accessory if you need to swipe a card for door access. They can also be worn in a variety of places. Employees can choose to attach their badge reel on a belt, pocket, or purse. Badge reels keep ID cards and keys secure by keeping items close to the body and visible to others.

You can choose from several badge reel attachments to find the one that will work best for your organization. Most badge reels come with a metal slide clip or swivel clip attachment, but IDville also offers a plastic clip for a more comfortable wear against skin. Carabiner clip and belt strap attachments  fasten to belts and belt loops without marking belts or clothes.

Find the badge reel that's right for your organization!

Badge reels can provide an added benefit to any industry. Different badge reel styles and designs offer unique functionality for individuals. Consider the following applications for schools, healthcare organizations, manufacturing facilities, and construction:

Badge Reels in Schools. Teachers and staff can choose a fashion badge reel  to display their ID badge at school. The unique designs promote the teaching profession, cancer awareness, working with children, or individual flair. The fun designs will be more appealing to both the staff and the students.

Badge Reels in Healthcare. Children’s hospitals and pediatrician’s offices can take advantage of fun animal shaped badge reels to distract young patients in the exam room. Hospital employees will also appreciate the medical badge reel with a plastic clip that provides a more comfortable fit on scrubs or against skin. The retractable cord also makes it easy to swipe for door access or to buy a cup of coffee in the hospital cafeteria.

Badge Reels in Manufacturing and Construction. Badge reels are a great option for manufacturing or construction workers. The function of a badge reel keeps the ID card close to the body and out of the way. Plus, heavy duty designs are a long-lasting option for these tough industries.  New badge reel options also include helpful tools, such as an LED light and tape measure, that can be useful in any work environment.

IDville has a comprehensive offering of badge reels  to fit any organization. Contact our experienced identification experts for help selecting the right badge reel for your organization via email or by calling 1.866.438.4553.

5 Tips for Designing School ID Cards

by david 17. April 2012 10:20

School ID cards are an important part of a school safety strategy. ID cards not only help to identify students and staff, but they also identify visitors in the building. To design school ID cards that will keep students safe and create an engaging learning environment, use our five tips in your design process.

1. Incorporate a prominent name and picture.
School ID cards identify individuals in your building. Your school ID cards should be designed to prominently feature the individual’s name and picture. This way, you’ll be able to spot fraudulent cards and quickly recognize if students or visitors are where they are supposed to be.

2. Design school ID cards with the display method in mind.
School ID cards are most effective when they are worn by students and staff every day. It’s important that you think about how the ID card will be worn during the design process. Will students receive lanyards to wear or are they more likely to attach the ID card with a strap clip? Your design will depend on how you recommend students wear their ID cards. For more information, read our Ways to Wear Your Badge article in our Knowledge Center. Learn More about Creating School ID Cards

3. Integrate your lunch and library programs.
To encourage staff and students to wear their school ID cards, make the card vital to their daily routine by integrating it with your lunch and library programs. The ID Maker software allows you to add a bar code to the ID card and sync the ID card activity with your database. Students will be good stewards of their school ID card when it’s required for buying lunch!

4. Color code school ID cards by grade, class, or building.
Improve safety in your building by color coding student and staff ID cards by grade, class, or building. This makes it even easier to visually identify students and where they belong in the school.

5. Create visitor ID cards.
Visitor identification is a very important part of a school safety strategy. When designing school ID cards, create a different design that can be used for visitors. The visitor ID cards should be obviously different than student and staff versions to eliminate confusion. You can also purchase a ready-to-use visitor identification program that can be implemented immediately at your school.

Are you interested in creating school ID cards for your school building or district? Learn more about how our ID Maker ID card systems  can simplify the ID card creation process by requesting free information from our identification experts.

Medical Position Identity Cards Have Benefits for Medical Facilities

by david 10. April 2012 14:14

Hospitals, doctor offices, and medical facilities are busy places. All day – and sometimes through the night! - people are coming and going. During a regular business day, a location could have patients, vendors, visiting family members, new staff members, and administrators visiting. That’s a lot of people to keep track of!

To make staff and visitors feel comfortable and safe in your location, it’s critical to clearly identify staff. Staff members should wear Medical Position Identity Cards in addition to their horizontal, slot punched ID card to increase security in your medical facility.

Medical Position Identity Cards at The additional identity card makes it easy to recognize staff members and their roles. Cards are available with Doctor, RN, LPN, and Staff designations, so you can identify every member of your team. The card fits behind an ID card and can be displayed on the ID card attachment of your choice, such as a strap clip, badge reel, or lanyard. The cards have a horizontal orientation, so they would not display properly with a vertical ID card.

The additional ID card will have several benefits. First, patients and their families will feel more comfortable when they know the position and job function of staff members. It also helps improve communication between patients and staff. Since patients will have a better understanding of the roles of each staff member, they can share helpful information with the appropriate staff member. Finally, security in your organization will improve as security guards and staff members alike will be able to identify individuals more quickly.

Great Event Planning Starts with the ID Badge

by david 21. March 2012 08:35

When planning a meeting or event, there are lots of important details to track: venue, food, transportation, attendees, and more. With so many details to look after, it can be easy to forget one. Unfortunately, many event planners consider IDs an afterthought, yet event ID badges are an important part of a successful event. Incorporating ID badges into the early stages of event planning can save you both time and money.

Save Money on Custom Lanyards. Popular at events, custom lanyards enhance the attendee experience. When planning an event, consider ordering your custom lanyards early in the planning process. Ordering lanyards early will increase your options since some low cost custom lanyards require a 4-6 week production time.

Shop New EZ Meeting Kit
Simplify your event ID badges with the new EZ Meeting Kit.

Before you place the order for your custom lanyards, take time to think about the appropriate lanyard attachment for your event. Consider the types of activities you have planned for attendees and whether or not a breakaway feature is important.

Save Time with Data Setup. When you design your event ID badge early in the planning process, you’re able to collect attendee data to accommodate the badges. If you know what information you want to display, you can organize the information accordingly. For example, you can create separate columns for first and last name, instead of grouping them together in your spreadsheet. This will save you time when you’re ready to print the event ID badges!

Save Time at Registration. When you have all your ID badges complete ahead of your event, you’ll be able to make the registration process fast and efficient for event attendees. Organize the completed badges so they will be easily accessible when registering attendees. Also be sure to pack ID badges in a travel case that is easy to transport and won’t move your badges out of order.

By incorporating your event ID badges early into the event planning process, you’ll not only save time and money, but you’ll save yourself stress, too!
