IDville has provided photo identification systems and accessories to the HR industry for over 10 years. The company’s proprietary ID Maker software simplifies the process of identifying employees and staff and has been a favorite among human resource managers for years.

I’m very excited to attend SHRM for the first time this year in Vegas. I look forward to meeting the attendees and showing others the benefits of our ID Maker system. Hope to see you there!

Maximize your networking with a simple name badge

by Maggie 6. May 2015 12:34
Maggie

At a conference, mixer or other event with a large group of people, a name badge is much more professional then a sticky, and is much easier for others to read. And remember, wearing your logo is a form of branding!

Another benefit is helping other people remember who they met. Hearing and seeing your name and company multiplies the chances others will remember you. So maximize your networking with a simple name badge!

Our ID Maker Software is user-friendly and easy to use.  It gives you the tools you need to design and print ID cards. Follow these guidelines for what information to include on your name badge. Remember to keep it simple for the customer. Only give them the information they need.

  1. Settings where a title on your badge may be a good option:
    • Conferences or tradeshows
    • Your place of work
*Place your title underneath your name in a smaller font size
  2. A setting where just your first name on your badge may be a good option:
    • Selling to customers in a store environment
  3. A setting where both your first and last name on your badge may be a good option:
    • Meeting people you intend to get to know and see in the future

What about industry credentials or marketing tag lines? I wouldn’t recommend adding anything else. Keep it simple.

Your name tag should serve as your introduction and usually nothing more. For people to remember your name and company, you need to make them stand out. With other information on your badge, your name and company runs the risk of getting lost in the jumble. People glance at a name badge, not read it like a book.

Once you’ve created your ideal name badge, the next step is choosing a form of backing. The backing refers to how the badge will attach to your clothing.
We offer many different options for name badge attachments:

When one of your main goals is networking, I would recommend either a badge holder or a badge clip. More specifically, I would recommend our framed badge holders or our Adhesive Magnetic ID Attachment.

Framed badge holders are useful for networking because they can make your ID badge stand out. Try matching the color of your frame to a color in your logo or the text of your name. You can even use different color frames to identify different groups of people.

Adhesive Magnetic ID Attachments are great tools for networking, because they are hidden, keeping the customer from distraction. A lot of people choose magnets, because they’re quick and easy to put on and don’t leave little holes. However, if you have a pace maker or other type of electronic device within your chest cavity, you should not use a magnet without your doctors permission as a magnet may interfere or stop your medical device from working.

Another tactic to use while networking at large events is creating custom lanyards that will unify your brand. Our full meeting and event line is a great tool for everything meeting and event! An example is IDville’s sponsorship of Tulip Time in Holland, MI. IDville joined Tulip Time as an Event Identification sponsor. Jennifer Reeves, IDville’s sales manager said, “We had an opportunity to help Tulip Time unify their volunteer identification, while branding the organization at the same time. By sponsoring this event, we were able to provide them with an ID Maker printer system, lanyards, and other accessories to help them easily identify the over 3,000 volunteers that help make this annual event a success.” Having unified identification for all volunteers and staff of this event made networking simple and memorable!

Identification is key to networking but is often overlooked. Follow these simple tips and watch your network grow exponentially! It’s not about what you know, it’s about who knows you! Your Identity: in Just One Word!

by Maggie 13. April 2015 12:04
Maggie

Think of the last time you were at a concert or a ballgame, surrounded by thousands of people laughing and talking and yelling at the same time. Your brain was working overtime to filter the external noise in order to converse with the person next to you. The brain is an amazing tool and uses its power to get this filtering job done.

Out of all the words being filtered through your brain, there is one word that will capture your attention even when mumbled by someone far away. It is your name. Your name is the most recognizable word in the universe for you. If you’re ever in a crowded place and you yell, “MOM,” you will immediately get every mom to stop whatever they’re doing and look at you.

For my name, Maggie, I am often alerted to people nearby who are talking about their dog… Thanks for that, mom and dad! There have been many times when “Maggie went to the bathroom in the middle of the living room again,” or “Maggie jumped on the neighbor and licked her face.” I always have to turn to the people around me and say, “Sorry, I just couldn’t control myself!”

But back to my point- names are important, and they get our attention.

There is a reason why Coca-Cola did the “Share a Coke” campaign this past summer. If you are not familiar with this campaign, Coca-Cola changed all of their can and bottle packaging to say “Share a Coke with ‘insert name.’”

They sold more than 250 million named bottles and cans in a nation of just under 23 million people. There was an overwhelming demand for personalized cans, and this campaign was a massive success. Lucie Austin, who at the time was director of marketing for Coca-Cola South Pacific, shared some good insight in an interview published by Jay Moye.

She said, “At the end of the day, our name is the most personal thing we have. It’s our fingerprint… our identity… in one word. We gave consumers an opportunity to express themselves through a bottle of Coke, and to share the experience with someone else. The fact that your name is on a Coke bottle, it can’t get more personal than that! The campaign capitalized on the global trend of self-expression and sharing, but in an emotional way.”

So what does all of this have to do with IDville’s product? EVERYTHING! Identity is the name of our game. From workplace safety to community, we’re here to help you!

We have a variety of products that will meet your identification needs:
•
ID Cards
•    ID Card Printers
•
Name Plates and Office Signs

In the workplace (among many places), people are more likely to answer when they are addressed by name. It’s important to know the names of the people you are working with; it’s a sign of respect. Do it for the new guy who’s bad with names!

Top 5 ID Maker Software Tips

by david 13. October 2010 11:55
david

1. Extra security features.
ID Maker software is packed with great security features to make your IDs more secure.  Add a signature, ghost photo, fingerprint, or even mask your barcode.  To add one of these elements, simply click on Modify > Add an Element right from the Card Creation screen.

2. Design help with templates
Want to get more uses out of your PVC card system besides making employee or student IDs?  Use one of our predesigned templates and over 300+ background and clip art designs in our ID Maker software to make lunch cards, gift cards, member rewards, or pocket-sized informational cards.

3. Lock an element
Did you know you can ‘lock’ the design of your ID layout in ID Maker software? Locking an element will hold its position so it cannot be moved to another position on the card.  To lock an element, click the appropriate element on the card so that a red box appears around it. Then click on the padlock button (under the Formatting tab in the Card Creation window) to 'Lock it'.  To the right of the card layout, a lock icon is visible.  The icon will appear red when an element is selected and locked.

4. Import images
Can’t find the right image in ID Maker’s clip art library? It’s easy to import your own image. Simply go to the “Card Creation” screen and click on the graphic button under “Design Tools.” Then choose “Import Logo” and select your graphic. Ta da!

5. Create a directory
Want to make a directory with your information in ID Maker?  ID Maker 2.0 Pro and Enterprise editions have been integrated with the Crystal Reports XI engine to produce over 40 standard report templates. To access these reports, click on File > Reports.  You can sort by any field!
