Maximize your networking with a simple name badge

by Maggie 6. May 2015 12:34
Maggie

At a conference, mixer or other event with a large group of people, a name badge is much more professional then a sticky, and is much easier for others to read. And remember, wearing your logo is a form of branding!

Another benefit is helping other people remember who they met. Hearing and seeing your name and company multiplies the chances others will remember you. So maximize your networking with a simple name badge!

Our ID Maker Software is user-friendly and easy to use.  It gives you the tools you need to design and print ID cards. Follow these guidelines for what information to include on your name badge. Remember to keep it simple for the customer. Only give them the information they need.

  1. Settings where a title on your badge may be a good option:
    • Conferences or tradeshows
    • Your place of work
*Place your title underneath your name in a smaller font size
  2. A setting where just your first name on your badge may be a good option:
    • Selling to customers in a store environment
  3. A setting where both your first and last name on your badge may be a good option:
    • Meeting people you intend to get to know and see in the future

What about industry credentials or marketing tag lines? I wouldn’t recommend adding anything else. Keep it simple.

Your name tag should serve as your introduction and usually nothing more. For people to remember your name and company, you need to make them stand out. With other information on your badge, your name and company runs the risk of getting lost in the jumble. People glance at a name badge, not read it like a book.

Once you’ve created your ideal name badge, the next step is choosing a form of backing. The backing refers to how the badge will attach to your clothing.
We offer many different options for name badge attachments:

When one of your main goals is networking, I would recommend either a badge holder or a badge clip. More specifically, I would recommend our framed badge holders or our Adhesive Magnetic ID Attachment.

Framed badge holders are useful for networking because they can make your ID badge stand out. Try matching the color of your frame to a color in your logo or the text of your name. You can even use different color frames to identify different groups of people.

Adhesive Magnetic ID Attachments are great tools for networking, because they are hidden, keeping the customer from distraction. A lot of people choose magnets, because they’re quick and easy to put on and don’t leave little holes. However, if you have a pace maker or other type of electronic device within your chest cavity, you should not use a magnet without your doctors permission as a magnet may interfere or stop your medical device from working.

Another tactic to use while networking at large events is creating custom lanyards that will unify your brand. Our full meeting and event line is a great tool for everything meeting and event! An example is IDville’s sponsorship of Tulip Time in Holland, MI. IDville joined Tulip Time as an Event Identification sponsor. Jennifer Reeves, IDville’s sales manager said, “We had an opportunity to help Tulip Time unify their volunteer identification, while branding the organization at the same time. By sponsoring this event, we were able to provide them with an ID Maker printer system, lanyards, and other accessories to help them easily identify the over 3,000 volunteers that help make this annual event a success.” Having unified identification for all volunteers and staff of this event made networking simple and memorable!

Identification is key to networking but is often overlooked. Follow these simple tips and watch your network grow exponentially! It’s not about what you know, it’s about who knows you! IDville: Tulip Time’s Resource for Event Identification

by Maggie 24. April 2015 14:46
Maggie

It's about that time again in West Michigan...Tulip Time! This year marks Holland, Michigan's 86th year of hosting the Tulip Time Festival taking place from May 2-9.

“The Holland Tulip Time Festival invites the world to join the dance as we celebrate our Dutch heritage with a festival showcasing our dynamic community and its spectacular tulips.” The Holland, Michigan area boasts nearly 4.5 million tulips, planted in City parks, at public attractions, and along City streets. The tulips are currently in the process of shooting up just in time for the festival!

The tulips that bloom are only part of the attraction, as there are also
national entertainment acts, events & activities for all ages, Dutch Dance performances, and some of the largest parades in Michigan!

Come see for yourself why Readers Digest has named The Holland Tulip Time Festival the “Best Small Town Festival in America”!

This year, IDville has the pleasure of being on of Tulip Time’s sponsors, and we’re really excited about the opportunity! Our IDville Sales Manager and Holland native, Jennifer Reeves, has a few words to share about IDville’s Tulip Time sponsorship.

Jen is a tulip enthusiast and loves beaching it on the weekends at Holland State Park. Her favorite tulip time activity is watching the Klompen dancers perform on 8th Street – “Hundreds of dancers in the middle of the street performing in unison, while wearing (and high kicking) in wooden shoes? It’s a sight to be seen!”

Can you tell our readers a little bit about IDville’s role in Tulip Time 2015?

Jen: IDville joined Tulip Time as an Event Identification sponsor. We have an opportunity to help Tulip Time unify their volunteer identification, while branding the organization at the same time.
By sponsoring this event, we were able to provide them with an
ID Maker printer system, lanyards, and other accessories to help them easily identify the over 3,000 volunteers that help make this annual event a success.

What inspired you to take on the Tulip Time project that IDville is doing?

Jen: As a volunteer for Tulip Time, I’ve witnessed first-hand local businesses and organization come together to promote our community while fostering and growing business relationships. Our brand is a national brand, as is Tulip Time, which is one reason why this makes it a perfect fit.

In the past, Tulip Time used a variety of different formats to identify their volunteers, staff and board members. This year, the volunteers will be identified easily with their unified lanyards and badges. With over 400,000 visitors, it’s critical to have volunteers easily identifiable with the appropriate credentials to ensure the safety and security of all who visit. Our meeting and event products were a perfect fit!

Gwen Auwerda, the executive director of Tulip Time said, “Wow! Love all of it, easy to use. The custom lanyards (shown to the right) are very classy! Thanks a million, this raised the bar for us for sure!”

What is your favorite Tulip Time memory?

Jen: My first Tulip Time living in Holland, I volunteered to walk along the float my employer has entered into the parade. It wasn’t revealed to me until much later, that I would be expected to wear wooden shoes. Seven pairs of socks, and two miles later, I was smiling from the experience and ready for the next parade!

What is your favorite part about living in Holland?

Jen: Hands down, being so close to the beach. In the summer, I call Holland State Park my second home. In addition to the beach, we have one of the best downtown districts where it’s easy to grab a bite, shop or just stroll – even in the winter, thanks to our heat melt system. Finally, I love the people. Great friends, neighbors, business associates. To me, Holland is a place where that small town community feel is alive and well.

Come find us at the event and say hello, we’re excited to meet you and would love to help you meet any identification needs you may have! Visit our web at

Promote your Brand with your Badge!

by Maggie 30. March 2015 13:17
Maggie

The other day I was grabbing lunch and this small whiteboard caught my eye.  I had to snap a picture to show you all and hopefully spark some creativity!

Simple ideas like this example are a great way to get your brand out there! Not only did this promotion benefit both the Insurance Company and the  restaurant, but it also gave the Insurance company publicity to every customer that came into the restaurant that day. What a great way to create relationships in your community…and it all started with an employee badge.

How to get students, staff and employees to wear ID badges

by Kelli 21. April 2014 10:03
Kelli
If you’ve recently implemented a policy requiring your students, staff and employees to wear their ID badges every day, you’ve probably noticed that enforcing that policy is easier said than done! Many schools and businesses find that students and staff members tend to forget their ID badges at home or lose them or “their dog ate it”. Whatever the reason, continuous ID badge reprints can get costly…and it’s a hassle for your administrator taking hours to reprint those lost badges.

ID badge accessories are a convenient and fun solution to help everyone protect their badges and keep them handy when they need to be swiped or presented often. With a wide range of accessory options, there’s got to be something for each member of your organization that will help them keep their ID badge accessible. At IDville we offer options like cool lanyardsbadge holdersclip attachments and badge reels

Using different colors of ID badge accessories is also a great opportunity to differentiate between grade levels, employee departments and building visitors. This will aid in quick visual recognition of who should be where inside your building. Many badge accessories are even customizable so that you can add your brand or team member names. There are so many options; there’s sure to be something for everyone!

Are you constantly replacing lost or damaged ID badges for your employees or students and staff? Not only will protective ID badge holders save you time, they’ll also save money spent on frequent ID badge reprints.

From healthcare to manufacturing to education, ID badge holders are a great way to extend the life of your ID badge and protect the data on your badge. Wearing your ID badge inside a badge holder will protect that badge from spills and cracking or peeling. Choosing the right holder and attachment style for your employees or students and staff will also minimize the chance that they’ll lose their ID badge.

Badge holders are a useful way for your team to display their ID without having to punch a hole in their ID badge. Giving your employees or students and staff a convenient and valuable way to wear their ID badges will increase the likelihood that they will keep their ID badge accessible – which is always a bonus! ID badge holders will also help to easily differentiate between departments or grade levels by using different badge holder colors or styles.

Badge holders can be found in vinyl, silicone, plastic and many other durable materials. From holders that strap around your arm to those that zip shut for added security, there’s sure to be something for your ID badge needs, no matter what industry you’re in! Even if your company policies require that an ID badge is swiped for door access or to log on to a computer, we have badge holders that accommodate that need as well.

IDville features several different ID badge holder options with several colors, styles, attachments and for both vertical and horizontal badges. No matter what your badge holder needs are, you’ll find what you need at IDville!

Meeting and Event ID Badge Creation Made Easy

by Falon 29. February 2012 11:21
Falon

Planning a meeting or event can be very stressful. There are lots of little details that you have to follow and lots people with questions about every detail you've thought about and some you haven't. Providing identification for all your attendees is vital to the success of your event (learn more about event IDs in this blog post), but it can be a lot of work, too.

Creating ID badges for an event has several steps:
- Print name badges
- Assemble badges in badge holders
- Organize badges
- Attach lanyards

All these little steps can become a big obstacle to your planning if it doesn’t go smoothly!
Shop New EZ Meeting Kit
We wanted to make it easier for our customers when they plan events, so we created the new EZ Meeting Kit. The kit simplifies your event planning by combining all the necessary ID badge items into one easy order.  My favorite item in this kit is the travel case which allows you to organize and sort all your badges ahead of time and transport them easily to your event location.

Sometimes, even the best made plans can fall apart, and the last few days (and hours!) before an event are extra crazy. If you need additional assistance with your event preparations, call the IDville team. Send us your attendee list and name badge design, and we’ll print, assemble, and organize the badges exactly how you need them. We’ll ship the completed badges directly to your event venue, too, so you don’t even have to worry about packing them.

EZ Meeting Kit for your next event to reduce prep time and stress so you can enjoy the event, too!

How do you simplify event planning? Tell us about it here!
