Office Signage – A Simple Way to Take Professionalism to the Next Level

by Kelli 15. January 2014 09:58

Think of how you felt the first time you walked into a new office building. You probably didn’t know where anything was and you may have even got lost on your way to someone’s office or a meeting or two. Clearly marking offices and meeting spaces with nameplates and office signage is not only convenient for new hires and guests, it also adds a feeling of professionalism to the building and to the company as a whole.

New employees, visitors, vendors and anyone else entering your building for the first time will likely make a snap judgment about the company as a whole based on what they observe. The professional image of your company will be improved by installing nameplates outside of each office, cubicle and meeting room.

Giving new hires a personalized nameplate will certainly increase their sense of belonging. They’ll immediately feel like part of the team if they have their very own nameplate just like everyone else. They’ll feel much more welcome and it will show them you’re prepared and excited to have them on board. Not to mention the tension that will be reduced by being able to find their way around the building with ease if offices and meeting spaces are identified.

IDville has a full line of office signage to bring your company’s professional image to the next level. Whether you’re looking for custom-engraved desktop nameplateswall- and door-mount signagecubicle nameplates or personal name tags for your team, IDville has just what you’re looking for.

Even if you’re worried about frequent personnel or room changes we have several selections that make changing out office signage stress-free. There are many do-it-yourself signage options which are created using our blank paper stock and can be designed right at your desk, using our free templates, and printed from any printer.

We can even get your custom nameplate or signage order shipped same day as long as final artwork is approved before 4:00 p.m. EST. After all, you shouldn’t have to wait for great products!

Stock Up On Printer Supplies & Save!

by Kelli 6. January 2014 13:34
Kelli
You have a group of new employees starting today and need to get them all set with their ID badges so they can begin their first day. You sit your first rookie down, take her ID badge photo, get everything set to print and you see the dreaded message that your printer ribbon needs to be replaced. You think to yourself, “Of all days, why today?!” And your new hires will likely be thinking, “What have I gotten myself into? They don’t even have things ready for me to get started on my first day, did they not know I was coming?”

Not only are your hew hires trying to make a positive first impression, you’ll also want to show them you’re excited (and prepared) to have them on board. Keeping an eye on your printing supplies stock will help you to avoid this embarrassment and maintain a positive first impression with your new employees.

Running out of printer supplies may also compromise your building’s security. Without being able to reprint ID badges when needed, you’ll have unidentified team members in your building, making it easier for unauthorized visitors to slip in undetected. It also puts your staff in an uncomfortable position – not knowing if the unrecognized person without a badge is a new hire or an intruder.

You’ll especially need to remain stocked up on printing supplies if your team utilizes their ID badges for time and attendance. Being able to reprint ID badges on-the-spot helps you avoid the hassle of payroll editing and ultimately, payroll mistakes.

Although IDville offers same-day shipping on orders received before 6pm, ID card printing supplies are not something you want to run out of! We offer supplies you’ll need for your ID card printer from every major manufacturer: EvolisZebraFargoDatacardMagicard and, of course, our own ID Maker® ID card printers. With IDville’s quantity discounts on ID printer supplies, the more you order, the more you save!

It’s that time of year again where we all try to shuffle to and from the car as quickly as possible to get back inside and out of the cold. If your building uses ID badges as proximity cards for door access, this would be a great time to make sure your team has the ID badge accessories they need to keep their ID badge easily accessible when they get to work.

IDville has several ID badge accessory options to keep your ID badges close at hand, ranging from blank and custom lanyards to retractable badge reels to ID badge clips. With several affordable options available, finding something for everyone has never been easier!

ID Badges...A Great Marketing Tool!

by Kelli 26. November 2013 09:49
Kelli
ID badges in the workplace are often primarily seen as informational, a security tool to improve employee and visitor safety. Many companies often overlook the effective company branding that a great ID badge offers.

Company branding is a quick and effective way of letting both prospective and current customers know what your company is all about, adding personal value to your company. Branding is essential to showing what your company does and the benefits customers will receive that set you apart from the competition.

To effectively utilize your team ID badges as a marketing opportunity, design attractive, full-color badges – prominently display your company name, logo and brand colors so they are easily noticed by customers. Having an appealing, memorable ID badge is a great way to promote your brand to both current and potential customers.

Employees displaying badges with the company name and logo will ensure it is continuously seen by customers. The more customers notice your ID badges, the more effective your branding efforts will be, allowing customers to more easily recall your company in the future, and ideally, they’ll continue to do business with you.

You can also give your team options to choose how to wear their badge so they are comfortable and the badges don’t distract them from their daily tasks. IDville has several badge-wear options ranging from clip attachments to customizable lanyards to retractable badge reels along with many other possibilities to choose from. Many of IDville’s accessories are customizable so you can add your logo or company name, again increasing customer awareness of your brand.

To add a personal touch to your ID badges and maximize the branding opportunity they provide, add your own special message – a mission statement, company motto or inspirational message that conveys brand beliefs, showing customers a little extra tidbit about your company. Creating and presenting a brand identity that consumers can identify with will ultimately build their trust and loyalty to your company.

IDville offers both single- and dual-sided ID card printer systems for everything you decide to include on your company badges. Whether the main goal for an ID badge policy is to easily identify team members or keep everyone safe, why not create an eye-catching branding piece at the same time?

Tips for Taking a Great ID Badge Photo

by Kelli 4. November 2013 09:51
Kelli

If you’re anything like me, you don’t necessarily look forward to having your picture taken, especially for things like the dreaded driver’s license photo. Right up there with that (or possibly worse) is a picture for an ID badge. Think about it – your driver’s license stays in your wallet, tucked away from the eyes of your friends and coworkers. On the other hand, many companies require that team members display their ID badge, for all eyes to see!

There are a few simple things to keep in mind that will make having a photo taken for an ID badge as painless as possible. Given that fellow team members, customers and other company partners will be seeing the photo on your ID badge on a regular basis, you’ll want to make sure to looking your best in that photo.

Below is some advice for you and your ID badge “photographer” that will help you to put your best foot forward in your ID badge photo.

For the Subject:

Make sure to wear a flattering top that will look great in the photo. Avoid bright colors, big patterns and anything taupe, bright white or nude – these selections may wash you out or be distracting in a photo, especially when taken under fluorescent lights. I suggest sticking to darker colors (black, navy or dark blues and greens) or softer tones (soft whites, blues, greens, purples, etc.).

A large part of looking your best for your photo is ensuring that your hair is neatly styled and away from your face.

You may want to make sure no one is watching you, but be sure to practice your smile in the mirror. You’ll want your smile to be natural and relaxed – don’t smile too big or too small. If you decide you don’t want to smile at least relax your face to avoid looking tense or angry.

This seems like a no-brainer, but make sure to look at the camera. You’d be surprised how many ID photos are taken with the subject looking to the side or above the camera.

Relax yourself – especially your face – when “posing” for your photo.

For the Photographer:

Look for a place that has good lighting to take your team’s ID badge photos. The photo subject’s face should be seen clearly and any lights you use should be at least 3 feet away from the subject. This way the light isn’t in the picture and doesn’t cast a shadow or cause the subject to squint.

A plain background, such as the one provided with our ID Maker Systems, is always best for any ID badge photos. A wall that’s painted in a neutral tone or a backdrop in white, beige or light blue will result in the best photos. Your subject should then stand roughly one foot in front of the wall/backdrop to avoid shadows.

Talking to your subjects before taking the photos will help them relax, resulting in a better ID badge photo.

Turning on autofocus and auto flash in your camera settings will help you take the best possible photos of each team member with ease.

Consider investing in a tripod to steady the camera – keeping it still and level while taking ID badge photos.

Adjust camera height and angle as necessary so that just the subject’s head and shoulders are framed in the photo.

If you don’t like the photo you take, the team member probably won’t either. Review each photo after it’s taken so you’ll know before printing the ID badge if you should take another.

IDville offers full ID Card Systems, which include an ID card printer and software, a USB web cam and a white backdrop along with all of the other necessary supplies so you’ll be up and running ready to take those great ID badge photos in just 15 minutes!

Hopefully these tips and tricks will put you at ease when getting ready for an ID badge photo. For some great ID badge design ideas visit our Sample ID Card Library to get your creative juices flowing. Who knows, you might even end up liking your photo!

Set Yourself Apart With Great Customer Service

by Kelli 23. October 2013 11:50
Kelli

Coming down from the recent high of Customer Service Week, I’ve started to think a lot about the impact great service has on our everyday decisions about where we’ll spend our money. Although I am a bargain hunter, I’m willing to pay a little extra if it means getting better customer service.

This brings to mind a disappointing experience at some jewelry stores a few years back. As my husband and I walked into the first store, not one associate looked up from what they were doing to even say hi or let us know they would be right with us. Being advocates of receiving great service where you spend your money, we promptly left that store and entered a second, only to receive the same treatment – no treatment.

Understandably, we were beginning to get frustrated until we walked into the third store. Although each associate was assisting a customer, one looked up and said hello and yet another let us know that she would be with us in just a few minutes. This was more like it! Once our associate finished up with her current customers she came right over and gave us her undivided attention (with the exception of saying “hello” to other customers) for over an hour! My husband ultimately had the final say and a few months later, I was happy to learn that he had chosen to purchase a beautiful ring from the jeweler “with a personality”.

Every single jewelry purchase since has been from the same company and I can honestly say I don’t think we’ll ever go anywhere else! Each time I visit for a jewelry cleaning or inspection, I’m greeted with the same warm smile and kind greeting. I’ve recommended this jeweler to several friends simply on the grounds of their attentive customer service.

Even a couple of words spoken – or in some cases not spoken – to a potential customer can be the deciding factor in that customer’s decision to spend their money with you. It can also impact word-of-mouth about your company. If word gets out you’re treated like royalty each time you visit or contact a company, people will be begging for you to take their money. Well, maybe not that extreme, but they will be much more content with forking it over for your products if they’re treated well when connecting with your company.

IDville maintains best-in-class customer service and unmatched technical support. We answer every call in 15 seconds or less – a real person, no recording! You won’t find service like that anywhere else in the industry. We offer same-day shipping with frequent communication so you know when your order is packed and shipped. All customers who buy ID Card Systems can call and receive unlimited free support from one of our tech experts – you’ll never be directed to a manufacturer number or online manual. We stand behind our products with a satisfaction guarantee so customers can shop with confidence!

Kelli

It’s the first full week of October and you know what that means – Customer Service Week is upon us!  This is the perfect time to highlight the importance of great customer service and recognize team members who live and breathe it every day. This week is a great opportunity to really show your team how much you appreciate their dedication in helping make your company a success!

Making a big deal out of Customer Service Week will remind your team why they love working with you and renew their drive to take customer service to the next level. Planning some unanticipated events for your team will show them that you notice and value their hard work, boosting morale, motivation and teamwork.

“At IDville, we place a large emphasis on the importance of an amazing customer experience on a daily basis, so we make sure to shine the spotlight on our customer service teams all week long,” said Dan Rogers, IDville General Manager, “We make sure to take time out to play some team building games, soak your manager in a dunk tank, raise money for a great cause, and several other small activities and perks throughout the week including casual days every day!” Carving even a small amount of time out for activities like these will have unparalleled benefits for your team.

There are countless ways for you to celebrate and say “thank you” to your team; from playing games, to offering casual days, to buying the team lunch. No matter what surprises you plan, your employees will love them and your company will reap the benefits of a rejuvenated and enthusiastic customer service team.

To show your team your gratitude, small gifts go a long way – everyone loves an unexpected gift from their employer. IDville offers great gifting opportunities for you to show your team you appreciate them! From custom printed lanyards to fun fashion ID accessories, we’ve got something for everyone on your team to enjoy.

While Customer Service Week is a great opportunity to go all out in showing your team you appreciate them, keep the momentum from Customer Service Week and continue to show each team member they are a valuable asset to the company throughout the year. ID Card Design - What Are Your Options?

by Kelli 24. September 2013 09:12
Kelli

While a company policy requiring team members to wear ID badges daily is a necessity for safety, great customer service, and several other reasons, deciding on how to design your company’s ID badges can be a bit daunting. IDville’s sample ID card library has many different design options for your ID card. Below is a guide to some different options you may use for the design of your company’s ID cards.

  • Single-Sided vs. Double-Sided – depending on your ID card needs, IDville offers printer systems which feature both single- and double-sided printing on your ID cards.
  • Card Orientation – Although card orientation seems like a small detail, it will affect the overall design and layout of your ID badges. You’ll need to think about how your team’s ID badges will be used. Card orientation will also have a large impact on how the badges are displayed by team members.
  • Data Encoding – You may utilize barcodes, magnetic stripes, RFID tags and smart chips in your ID cards which will include information about the user.
  • Team Member Photo and Name – Including a team member’s photo and name on an ID card is great for visual identification. Management and other team members will recognize that this person is cleared to be on company property. Not to mention the morale booster of everyone being able to address each other on a first-name basis!
  • Team Member Signature, Company Title and ID # – Including each team member’s signature on his/her ID card will add to the security of the badge and will make it even more difficult to duplicate. You can also choose to include each team member’s title and ID # – this is especially helpful for organizations that have limited building access based on departments or job classifications.
  • Company Logo – Including the company logo on an ID badge is a great way to enhance brand recognition. Customers will see the logo when they’re at your establishment and will likely remember it when they see it outside of the company.
  • Custom Holographic Overlay or Ghost Photo – For increased ID card security, add a holographic overlay or a ghost photo to your ID badges, this will make unauthorized replication of ID cards nearly impossible.
  • Building Image – Several organizations add a full color graphic of their building to their ID cards. This makes for a nice visual and sets the tone of your organization. Having a great beauty shot of your company makes for a professional display; add your logo and people will really remember you!

Depending on your industry and security needs, the possibilities for ID card design are (almost) endless. IDville has everything you’ll need to get started…in one box! Our ID card systems are packaged with all of the components you need to be up-and-running and printing IDs within 15 minutes! With our systems, you’ll receive our ID Maker Software (which will make designing the perfect ID card for your company a breeze), photo-taking tools and, of course, enough blank card stock and printer ribbons to get you through your first run!
