Medical Position Identity Cards Have Benefits for Medical Facilities

by david 10. April 2012 14:14
david

Hospitals, doctor offices, and medical facilities are busy places. All day – and sometimes through the night! - people are coming and going. During a regular business day, a location could have patients, vendors, visiting family members, new staff members, and administrators visiting. That’s a lot of people to keep track of!

To make staff and visitors feel comfortable and safe in your location, it’s critical to clearly identify staff. Staff members should wear Medical Position Identity Cards in addition to their horizontal, slot punched ID card to increase security in your medical facility.

Medical Position Identity Cards at IDville.com The additional identity card makes it easy to recognize staff members and their roles. Cards are available with Doctor, RN, LPN, and Staff designations, so you can identify every member of your team. The card fits behind an ID card and can be displayed on the ID card attachment of your choice, such as a strap clip, badge reel, or lanyard. The cards have a horizontal orientation, so they would not display properly with a vertical ID card.

The additional ID card will have several benefits. First, patients and their families will feel more comfortable when they know the position and job function of staff members. It also helps improve communication between patients and staff. Since patients will have a better understanding of the roles of each staff member, they can share helpful information with the appropriate staff member. Finally, security in your organization will improve as security guards and staff members alike will be able to identify individuals more quickly.

See more details on Medical Position Identity Cards to determine if they’re a good fit for your organization at IDville.com.

Four Steps to Extend the Life of your ID Card Printer

by todd 29. November 2011 07:33
todd

When you purchased your ID card printer, you made an investment in the safety and security of your staff. Like any piece of equipment, your printer won’t last forever if it’s not cared for properly. Follow our four steps to extend the life and well-being of your ID card printer:

1. Clean It. We recommend you clean your printer with a cleaning kit every 700-1,000 prints to keep it running smoothly. Regular cleanings ensure your ID cards always come out looking beautiful.

Learn more about ID Maker Systems2. Store it in a Case. Protect your printer from dust and potential damage by storing it in a carry case. This is a necessity to protect your printer from the elements if you are transporting it between buildings or events.

3. Give Proper Training. The greater number of people you have using your printer, the more likely it is to be misused or damaged. Train individuals in your office or organization who will be using the printer to make sure it’s handled properly.

4. Use the Correct Printer Supplies. Different styles and models of printers require different printer ribbons and cleaning kids. Be sure to use the right supplies on your printer with our Printer Supplies Locator.

Top 10 Reasons to Identify with ID Cards

by david 24. October 2011 11:20
david

Do you identify staff and visitors at your organization? Why not!? Here are my top ten reasons you should identify with an ID card system.

1. Safety is everyone's priority - Not just building and grounds safety, but personal safety should be an important part of your building plan. Know who is roaming your halls and corridors and manage building or room access with a single card.

2. Time and attendance capability - Track hours for payroll with ease. You can transform an access card to a photo ID plus an access card by creating a plastic overlay that adheres to any proximity or HID card.

3. Make the best use of your time - Avoid labor-intensive paper laminate cards that don't last. Plastic ID cards have more functionality and security, and they print in less than a minute per card.

4. Make the best use of your dollars - An ID Maker System is all-inclusive without any hidden costs. Everything you need to get started today for creating and printing ID cards, right out of the box. Learn more about ID Maker Systems

 5. Appropriate for use in government and healthcare industries - Remain compliant with federal and state ID card and information mandates when you design and print your own ID cards.

6. Multiple functions on a single card - From a student perspective, incorporate a photo ID with cafeteria and library services. For the office, combine a time card with building access.

7. Reduce waste and costly reprints - Sturdy plastic ID cards last 20 times longer then a paper laminate card.

8. Reduce fraudulent reproduction - Make ID cards tamper-proof with unique security features such as holographic overlays, ghost photos, and printer memory card capabilities.

9. Create your own rewards/membership programs - Advertise your business with a rewards card, or print your own gift or key cards. The possibilities with an ID Maker System expand beyond identification.

10. Lifetime, technical support whenever you need it - You are never on your own! With every system purchase, you get free technical support for as long as you own the system. We're the experts, and we do it right!

National Safety Month is a Great Opportunity to Refresh ID Cards

by david 7. June 2011 09:45
david

If you read last week’s post, you know that June is National Safety Month. All this month, we’ll be sharing tips and ideas that can make your organization a safer place.

National Safety Month was established in 1996 by the National Safety Council to increase public awareness of safety and health risks in workplaces, homes, and communities. This month is a prime opportunity to bring safety to the forefront of your organization and establish its value as a great workplace.

Create your own Employee ID CardsJune is an excellent time to refresh your workforce on company safety procedures. Begin Safety Month with a reminder of your identification policy. Going over the policy is certain to get everyone on the same page when it comes to proper use and display of their ID cards.

Don’t have an identification policy? Make a resolution to create one. Identification in the workplace improves safety by providing a visual identifier of individuals in the building. This makes it easier to identify who do and does not belong in the building. Thanks to identification software and easy-to-use photo ID card systems, you can create the identification policy that will have the greatest impact on safety for your organization.

Safety Month is a great opportunity to update staff ID card pictures, too. At staff meetings, have your digital camera ready and offer “picture-retakes” for anyone interested. Employees will be more likely to wear their ID when they are happy with their picture. Hand out new lanyards or badge reels to everyone to encourage them to regularly sport their new ID cards.

Safety is an essential piece to creating a work environment where employees look forward to coming to work. When you create a safety-conscious culture at your organization, employees will thank you with increased productivity and engagement.

ID Card Systems in Healthcare Protect Information and Improve Safety

by david 10. May 2011 08:11
david

Healthcare professionals perform a balancing act everyday. More demands on their time, more hats to wear, and in economically challenging times they are doing it all for less compensation.

Technological advances make their jobs easier, however with that ease comes a new set of challenging circumstances. As facilities move towards electronic file keeping, the possibility of security breaches increase. A recent study indicates 1.5 million Americans have been victims of medical identity theft costing over $28.6 billion in damages.

Motivation may be high to commit medical identity theft, but federal mandates are now more stringent to deter this costly crime. The HITECH Act put in place weightier consequences including steep fines for those that violate privacy protection laws, as well as a wider definition of what information is protected, and who is responsible for protecting it.

Create a Safe Healthcare Environment with ID Card Systems What this means to the healthcare industry is convenient data housing but with increased accountability to manage that information, and prevent it from being compromised.

A key component in the prevention of security breaches and overall safety is an ID card system. Medical facilities are not limited to employees. Hundreds, maybe thousands, of patients, visitors and vendors stream through their doors every day posing countless opportunities for sensitive information to fall into the wrong hands. Identifying who is in the building at all times, and for what purpose, reduces the security risk and puts everyone at ease, so the focus becomes exceptional care and service - not hall monitoring. Let an ID card system do that for you.

Ultimately what you're looking for in an ID card system is value - manageable up front cost on a system that delivers on safety. When looking for an ID card system, consider:
 Who will be using the system?
 What features do you need?
 How much can you spend?
 What are the latest applications in the industry?

For more information regarding ID card systems in healthcare, read our complete white paper, “Secure ID Card Systems for the Healthcare Industry.”

Selecting the Right ID Badge Accessory: Protective Badge Holders

by david 26. April 2011 09:17
david

Do you often replace broken or worn ID cards for your employees or students? If you are constantly making replacement ID cards, you should consider outfitting your organization with badge holders.

Badge holders extend the life of your ID card by protecting it in a plastic or vinyl case. Most badge holders also have a slot punch, so you can still display your ID card with a strap clip, lanyard, or badge reel. There are a variety of badge holders available for all types of organizations or environments.

 Protect ID cards from fading in direct sunlight:
Maintain great looking ID cards with an Anti-Print Transfer Badge Holder. This badge holder won’t stick to your ID card and prevents the ink from fading. It will keep your ID card looking great!

 Maintain a clean and healthy work environment:
Prevent your ID card from transmitting germs with a Sealable Badge Holder. The seal isolates the ID card from any germs or bacteria and is easy to wipe clean. Ideal for healthcare facilities and childcare centers, a Sealable Badge Holder will promote a healthy environment.

 Keep your ID badges visible and out of the way:
Get ID cards out of the way with an Armband Badge Holder. This badge holder is worn around the upper arm, and a colorful elastic band makes it clearly visible. Perfect for employees who do physical labor or manufacturing work, the Armband Badge Holder is a safe way to display ID cards.

 Designate levels of access, grades, or additional security information:
Use Colored Bar Badge Holders. These colorful badge holders make different security designations visible from a distance. Our Colored Bar Badge Holders are perfect for schools and will clearly identify students from various grades or buildings.

 Secure your RFID technology:
Protect your information with an RFID Secure Badge Holder. RFID chips encode personal information into your ID card. However this information can easily be stolen. Safeguard your employees’ and company’s information with this secure badge holder.

Falon

Earth Day is this Friday, April 22, and many schools and companies will be celebrating with education and service projects. Earth Day is a worldwide event and many organizations use this day to demonstrate their commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.

Even your ID accessories can promote your commitment to the environment for this year’s Earth Day. We have products that are made from recycled materials, so you can feel good about your ID card accessories.

Shop Protective Badge HoldersOur Recycled Custom Lanyards are the most popular eco-friendly option in our store. Each lanyard is made from recycled soda bottles! Similar to our other custom lanyards, you can choose the color, attachment, and message for this lanyard. This option is perfect for Earth Day and every day!

You can display your ID card in a Biodegradable Badge Holder. These badge holders are made from a corn-based film, so they won’t fill up a landfill. The biodegradable badge holder is available in three different attachment options, too.

Create eco-friendly ID cards with our Recycled Name Badge Stock. You can create 300 badges with one box of this paper, which is made from 100% recycled paper stock. This paper option is compatible with all printers and perforates for easy badge assembly.

At IDville, we’re doing our part to conserve the environment by using paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) for all of our catalogs. The FSC logo on IDville catalogs lets you know that the paper materials came from a forest that meets the FSC forest management standards. Paper materials for IDville are harvested from forests in Wisconsin, which has more FSC certified forestland than any other state and adds more new fiber than it harvests every year.

We’re doing our small part to protect and conserve the environment, and we hope you will, too! Happy Earth Day!

The Case for Secure Environments in Business, Education, Healthcare and Government

by david 6. April 2011 12:12
david

Just as your DNA identifies you from a biological standpoint, your photo identification is a multi-functional document that identifies you by sight. A photo ID is required for building access, banking functions, driving a car and even picking up a package.

In many industries it's important to identify staff, patients, visitors and students. Not only are you identifying who is authorized to be on the premises each day, you are also identifying visitors who may, or may not, have a legitimate reason to be on the grounds at all.

There are many reasons to identify, however let's take a look at two critical reasons why your business or school should invest in an ID card system: security and efficiency.

Limited Access Creates a More Secure Environment

Shop New ID Maker PrintersNational Institute for Occupational Safety and Health research establishes an access card as a prevention strategy for workplace violence. A proximity, or what is sometimes referred to as a smart card, is commonly used to limit access to rooms, buildings and grounds. Other applications include payment or public transit fare cards.

From a security standpoint, the staff or student would need to pass the card over a reader in order to access a gate or door. Proximity cards can easily be turned into a photo ID card by printing a digital image on an adhesive plastic card that attaches to the existing access card. This also saves cost during an authorized personnel change since the proximity card does not have to be re-programmed, only the adhesive ID badge needs to be removed.

This blog entry is taken from our "ID Card Systems - Why Identify" white paper. Read the rest of the article in our Knowledge Center.
