Your Identity: in Just One Word!

by Maggie 13. April 2015 12:04
Maggie

Think of the last time you were at a concert or a ballgame, surrounded by thousands of people laughing and talking and yelling at the same time. Your brain was working overtime to filter the external noise in order to converse with the person next to you. The brain is an amazing tool and uses its power to get this filtering job done.

Out of all the words being filtered through your brain, there is one word that will capture your attention even when mumbled by someone far away. It is your name. Your name is the most recognizable word in the universe for you. If you’re ever in a crowded place and you yell, “MOM,” you will immediately get every mom to stop whatever they’re doing and look at you.

For my name, Maggie, I am often alerted to people nearby who are talking about their dog… Thanks for that, mom and dad! There have been many times when “Maggie went to the bathroom in the middle of the living room again,” or “Maggie jumped on the neighbor and licked her face.” I always have to turn to the people around me and say, “Sorry, I just couldn’t control myself!”

But back to my point- names are important, and they get our attention.

There is a reason why Coca-Cola did the “Share a Coke” campaign this past summer. If you are not familiar with this campaign, Coca-Cola changed all of their can and bottle packaging to say “Share a Coke with ‘insert name.’”

They sold more than 250 million named bottles and cans in a nation of just under 23 million people. There was an overwhelming demand for personalized cans, and this campaign was a massive success. Lucie Austin, who at the time was director of marketing for Coca-Cola South Pacific, shared some good insight in an interview published by Jay Moye.

She said, “At the end of the day, our name is the most personal thing we have. It’s our fingerprint… our identity… in one word. We gave consumers an opportunity to express themselves through a bottle of Coke, and to share the experience with someone else. The fact that your name is on a Coke bottle, it can’t get more personal than that! The campaign capitalized on the global trend of self-expression and sharing, but in an emotional way.”

So what does all of this have to do with IDville’s product? EVERYTHING! Identity is the name of our game. From workplace safety to community, we’re here to help you!

We have a variety of products that will meet your identification needs:
•
ID Cards
•    ID Card Printers
•
Name Plates and Office Signs

In the workplace (among many places), people are more likely to answer when they are addressed by name. It’s important to know the names of the people you are working with; it’s a sign of respect. Do it for the new guy who’s bad with names!

Promote your Brand with your Badge!

by Maggie 30. March 2015 13:17
Maggie

The other day I was grabbing lunch and this small whiteboard caught my eye.  I had to snap a picture to show you all and hopefully spark some creativity!

Simple ideas like this example are a great way to get your brand out there! Not only did this promotion benefit both the Insurance Company and the  restaurant, but it also gave the Insurance company publicity to every customer that came into the restaurant that day. What a great way to create relationships in your community…and it all started with an employee badge.

Employee Appreciation Day is Every Day at the ‘ville

by Maggie 13. March 2015 13:58
Maggie

This week was electric at the ‘ville! In honor of Employee Appreciation Day, we dedicated a whole week to appreciate our employees and all the hard work that they do. With the winter we’ve had here in Michigan, our management staff thought that a Winter Warmup Week would be appropriate! Each division of the Baudville Corporation was assigned a different tropical location and given the task of decorating their department and organizing an activity for lunch time. We had a week full of games, food, and festivities!

The IDville and Operations crews took us on a Monday afternoon voyage to the Caribbean, where the pirates invaded. Employees walked the plank with a canon (balloon) in between their legs and popped it to reveal their prize straight from the treasure chest! Shiver me timbers it was a good time!

Our hi5 crew and the Baudville Marketing and Product teams threw a Mexican fiesta on Tuesday! We had some delicious Mexican treats and played some great games during lunch. ¡Ay, qué rico!

The Baudville sales suite had us feeling relaxed all day Wednesday with a Jamaican getaway. They decked out their suite with hammocks to capture an island vibe and hosted a lunch time dance party!

The Distribution Center had us surfing in Hawaii on Thursday. It was a luau to remember with hula girls, “pina coladas”, and a photo station.

The final surprise ta-da from the management team started with new water bottles with fruit infusers. They catered in On-the-Border lunch for all employees, and had games with fabulous prizes.

A big thanks to all of the people who helped plan this week and to our employees once again for being the best around! If IDville sounds like a place you would like to work check out our career opportunities at http://www.idville.com/category/customer+service/career+opportunities.do. We’d love to have you on our team!

Identify your Employees’ Awesomeness

by Maggie 4. March 2015 16:38
Maggie

In America, the #1 reason most people leave their jobs is because they don’t feel appreciated. With Employee Appreciation Day coming up this Friday the 6th, there’s still time to plan something fun that will let your employees know you appreciate them.

Try one of these simple IDville ideas:

•    Use a badge printer to create incentive cards that you can reward your employees with. Some examples would be a card that says “Leave 30 Minutes Early on the Day of your Choosing,” “One Free Casual Day,” etc.
•    Create a safety awareness program by rewarding all employees who wear their badges daily.
•    Design a
custom lanyard that says, “We appreciate you.” or “My Boss Thinks I’m Extra Awesome.”
•    Small companies can reprint employee badges with fun new titles for the day or week “Purveyor of Potlucks,” “Queen of Sales,” “Master of getting things done!” “Ms. Indispensable,” “Chief FUN Officer,” etc.
•    Host a “security” meeting to remind employees why proper identification is critical to your business’s overall success. All employees use their name badge to enter into a drawing for a prize.

Think of recognition programs as an investment, not an expense. With even a little bit of recognition, employee engagement has been shown to increase by 60%!

Of course, our parent company, Baudville features a wide variety of gifts perfect for celebrations like Employee Appreciation Day! And there’s still some time to show the love to your team this week. Have fun!

Protect K_ _ S. "ID" is key

by Maggie 25. February 2015 15:38
Maggie

It’s a busy time for our education tradeshows at IDville. Jason just got back from the National Association of Secondary School Principals tradeshow, and in the coming month, we have four more education tradeshows to attend!

Education World® notes that ID badges are a great way to enhance school security in their recent article, Badge, Please? Schools Turn to IDs to Enhance Security. ID badges are an effective and simple way to make sure everyone on campus belongs there. With everyone wearing ID badges, it is easy to identify who is official from a safe distance. They’re a great tool for campus access and control. With recent school violence, it’s better to play it safe!

Some school officials are apprehensive about the idea of staff ID badges. They don’t want their school to become a cold, institutionalized place. To make badges warm and friendly, try putting your school emblem on them and create your own design! Fancy them up with a fun lanyard or badge reel to add some personality.

Requiring badges for teachers and students is a great way to ensure security for the kids, and what could be more important? To learn more about simple solutions for your identification needs, contact one of our system specialists at 1.866.438.4553, shop online at http://www.idville.com, or find us at any of these tradeshows.

New Trends in Secure Identification

by Maggie 20. February 2015 08:20
Maggie

Technology is creating more flexibility and new capability for the secure identity marketplace.  Dr. Selva Sevaratnam, senior vice president and chief technology officer with HID Global, said, “Whether it’s moving campus IDs onto smartphones, or centralizing all identity management for protecting doors, data and cloud-based applications, or securing electronic medical prescriptions and ATM transactions, we will see the transformation of our customers’ experience using secure identities during the coming year, and beyond.”

8 Trends that will affect the secure identity market in 2015:

  1. Increased interoperablilty of ID cards- being used for secure print authentication, access to buildings, and more

  2. Adoption of new credential form factors

  3. New ways to open entrance systems and new forms of building access

  4. Advances in how to manage and protect identities

  5. Using biometrics to help transform security from a barrier to a guardrail

  6. Transitioning from the magnetic stripe and proximity cards to contactless smart cards in the Education sector

  7. New building, patient, and medication security in the healthcare sector

  8. Heightened building and data security and the move beyond passwords in the business sector

A Valentine’s Day Game Your Students Will Love!

by Maggie 11. February 2015 15:26
Maggie
In light of the quickly-arriving Valentine’s Day, we at IDville wanted to share a game that your students are guaranteed to love!

The rules are as follows: Each student will start off with their nametag or ID badge placed over their heart. Outside of class time, girls are not allowed to talk to boys, and boys are not allowed to talk to girls. The first member of the opposite sex that you accidentally talk to gets to claim your nametag and wear it for the rest of the day. For easy badge clipping, check out our ID Badge Clips! The object of the game is to end up with the most nametags by the end of the day. Your students will love it!

Necessary Supplies: Your students can wear their plastic ID cards, or check out our high-quality Paper Badges for the occasion!

If your students don’t already have plastic ID cards, consider investing in one of our ID Systems for a safer educational experience. Even if you don’t own an ID Maker® printer, we have affordable supplies for all major ID card printer brands. Just visit our Printer Supplies Locator or contact our friendly staff today at 1.866.438.4553 and we’ll make sure we get you just what you need.
