Strap Clips: An Affordable Display Option

by david 23. November 2010 15:09

ID cards provide valuable visual identification. They make it easy to know who does and does not belong in your building. Once you create your ID cards, you must provide ways for your employees and staff to display them.

If you have a tight budget for ID accessories, strap clips are an ideal display option for you and your organization. As low as $0.18 each, strap clips can attach an ID card to anything!

Strap clips are commonly used to attach ID cards to shirt pockets, belts and even purses. The strap clip and ID card should be worn so the ID card is easily visible and accessible.

In order to attach an ID card to a strap clip, the card must have a slot punch. Otherwise, you have no way to connect the ID card and strap clip.

You have several strap clip options. You can order strap clips:

- In a color that coordinates with your ID card design
- To hold more than one ID card with extra length.
- With a rubber tip grip so you don’t damage clothing.
- To be worn on a belt.

The Benefits of a Dual Sided ID Card

by todd 16. November 2010 08:56

Not all ID card printers print on both sides of an ID card. Dual-sided ID card printers have a mechanism that prints on the front side of the card, flips the card over and prints the back. Single-sided ID card printers lack this function.

The primary difference between these two types of printers is the amount of printing space per card. A one sided ID card has very limited space whereas a dual-sided card provides more room for more information.

With dual-sided capabilities, information you don’t want displayed can be added to the back of the card. Some organizations print individual’s personal information, barcode or magnetic stripe on the back.

The back side of an ID card can also be used to display valuable information such as emergency contact information, mission statements or an address where a lost card can be returned.

If your ID cards will be displayed on a lanyard or a badge reel where they can easily be turned around, you may want to duplicate the card design on each side so the proper information is always displayed.

If you’re not certain you will need dual-sided ID cards, choose an ID card printer that is field-upgradable and can be converted from a one-sided to a two-sided printer without major expense, like our ID Maker Printer. Otherwise, you may have to purchase a new printer at a later date.

Protect Information on RFID Cards

by todd 3. November 2010 12:06

Many organizations now use contactless access cards and ID cards to allow employees, vendors or regular visitors into buildings. Information is stored on these cards thanks to Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.

While it can be convenient to store information on ID cards, it can also be easily stolen with a common RFID reader. Since colleges and employers often store individual’s personal information on ID cards, protecting yourself from identity theft should be a top priority.

To protect yourself or your employees from identity theft, always wear your ID card with RFID technology in an RFID Secure Badge Holder.

The RFID Secure Badge Holder blocks RFID signals that are necessary for a reader to access the information on your card. The badge holder prevents identity theft, and you can easily slide the card out to gain access into a facility. The badge holder can accommodate 2 cards, so you can also protect a credit card or drivers license.

If you require employees to wear an ID card with an RFID chip, provide RFID Secure Badge Holders  and badge reels as well to protecting their identity and personal information.
