Full Color Nameplates

by david 29. September 2010 09:25

New in the IDville nameplate offering are full color nameplates. In addition to our traditional engraved nameplate options, you can add a full color logo or go crazy with a colorful design on your wall or desk sign.

Nameplates are common in many business settings. They help to identify personnel, resources and facilities. For instance, displaying a desktop nameplate is common in most bank lobbies. A bank feels more friendly and welcoming when each of the tellers is identified by name at their station.

At IDville, we use nameplates as a communication tool. Each of our employees has a nameplate outside their office with their name and the year they started. Employees can rely on the nameplates to find where co-workers sit and how long they’ve been with the company.

All of our meeting rooms are also labeled with nameplates. This helps to reduce confusion for new employees and visitors.

Now you can show off your organization’s flair by including your full color logo on each nameplate. It’s great brand exposure, especially if customers frequently visit your facility. The new full color nameplates are going to be popular!

How are you using nameplates in your organization? Will you use nameplates differently now that you can customize them will full-color artwork? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Custom Lanyard Options

by todd 21. September 2010 09:55
todd

Custom lanyards are a popular and affordable way to get your employees and students to wear their ID cards, but the creation process can be overwhelming! There are many decisions to make for even a simple lanyard, and it can be difficult to know what features are best for your needs. This post will be a guide for your custom lanyard order and provide valuable insight into lanyard creation.

Create Custom Lanyards for All Occasions

  • Quantity. How many lanyards do you want to buy? This will quickly narrow down the number of choices at the Lanyard Wizard.
  • Budget. How much do you want to spend? The prices are per lanyard, but quantity discounts are available.
  • Timeline. When do you need the lanyards? Our Quick Ship Lanyards ship to you in just one day, but the Smart Buy Lanyards take 4-6 weeks. Be sure you choose the lanyard that will deliver your custom lanyard order in time.
  • Style. Do you have a lanyard style preference? I personally like the Vivid Color Lanyards because you can match colors and the fabric is very soft. We also have Embroidered Lanyards and Recycled Lanyards if an eco-friendly option is important.
  • Size. What width lanyard do you need? If the lanyards will be used for a long period of time, I recommend our thicker styles for long lasting comfortable wear.
  • Breakaway. The breakaway feature on a custom lanyard is for security purposes. This style is typically used in manufacturing environments and elementary schools. You can read more about the breakaway in our Knowledge Center.
  • Attachment. Standard metal attachments are available for all of our custom lanyards, and it includes a split ring, j-hook, and bulldog clip. Consider how you want the ID card displayed before making your selection. If you have a one-sided ID card, I recommend the bulldog clip because it won’t turn your ID card around.
  • Length. Are you buying custom lanyards for children? Then you will want the child-size lanyard length.
  • Design. What do you want your custom lanyard to say? You have many color, font and graphic choices, or you can add your own logo. This is the fun part!

That’s it! You’ve now created your custom lanyards!

Custom Lanyards and ID Badges Improve ArtPrize Experience

by david 15. September 2010 08:48

IDville has a long history of charitable and community involvement. Some of our products have even been used by the crew at Extreme Makeover: Home Edition! This month, our identification products are being put to use by a large event in our backyard of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

This year, the world’s largest art prize event is identifying key participants to improve the event experience for thousands of expected visitors. In 2010, ArtPrize will bring together over 1,700 artists and 1,500 volunteers. New this year, the staff at ArtPrize will use ID Maker software to create name badges for all of the participating artists and volunteers. Each group also has their own custom lanyards.

The ArtPrize staff believes the identification will encourage increased interaction among volunteers, staff, artists and visitors, making the event more memorable for all involved.

As part of their official uniform, ArtPrize volunteers will wear a lanyard with their name prominently displayed in a badge holder. Amelea Pegman, ArtPrize Volunteer Services and Community Development, expects the identification will help to improve the experience for both volunteers and visitors by making volunteers more approachable.

“It will be wonderful and helpful for our volunteers to be identifiable - by name - when they are out working with visitors and representing ArtPrize. IDs will also help to create that special feeling of importance and involvement that we want for our volunteers!”

The badges and custom lanyards will be especially useful identifying volunteers at the many ArtPrize events. “There will be hundreds of people at each of the events that I manage, so having our volunteers, staff, and interns clearly marked with their ID badges and custom lanyards will help our guests identify those individuals who can best enhance and better their event experience,” said Noddea Skidmore, ArtPrize Event Producer.

ArtPrize artists, who exhibit their work in venues throughout downtown Grand Rapids, will also wear clear identification. “The badges and lanyards will be a great way to increase the visibility of artists at the event. Direct interaction between artists and the audience is one of the joys of ArtPrize, and with the artists wearing easily identifiable badges, it'll happen even more this year,” said Kevin Buist, Artist Relations.

While you may not realize it, identification is an important part of successful events outside the office. ID cards serve as a communication tool to identify staff, guests, and participants, and they can improve visibility and approachability of key staff members.

For more information on using ID cards and identification in your events, visit our Reference Library for our Event ID Guidelines. Read more about our involvement with ArtPrize in the Baudville, Inc. Newsroom.

New this week, we’ve added 10 new products to the IDville offering. As part of our mission to stay current with emerging identification and workplace security trends, we’re introducing several innovative products. Here are a few of our personal favorites you should check out:

 USB Lanyard. Professionals in all industries rely on USBs to keep their data portable and protected. The new USB Lanyard makes it convenient to carry your data with you wherever your work takes you. The lanyard detaches to reveal a 1GB USB drive. This item can be valuable to teachers who can always carry class records with them.

 RFID Secure Badge Holders. With many organizations relying on smart cards to contain employee information and access control, it’s important to protect personal information from being stolen. As part of our new product offering, we now offer RFID Secure Badge Holders. The badge holder prevents identity theft by blocking RFID signals that can access the personal information stored on the card. ID cards easily slide out of the holder for scanning.

 Badge Reels. Fun and functional badge reels encourage employees to wear their ID cards at all times. For night shift employees, consider the Carabiner LED Badge Reel that shines a bright LED light at a push of a button. For a more light-hearted crowd, our Flashing Badge Reels are sure to be a hit!

The Differences between Paper and PVC ID Cards

by todd 2. September 2010 16:00
todd

Before transitioning to an ID card printer and PVC ID cards, many organizations create ID cards on paper stock. The paper ID card may be the inexpensive option for ID cards, but it’s less secure, less professional and has a shorter life span.

Security. ID cards made out of paper are primarily used for visual identification since they don’t store any data. On the other hand, PVC ID cards can be used for control access and include RFID technology, a magnetic stripe, barcode or holographic overlay. These features allow your ID cards to have multiple functions and make employee information more secure.

Professionalism. Paper ID cards don’t convey a professional image. Today, anyone can create a paper ID card using a word document program and perforated paper. For a more professional appearance, companies should create PVC ID cards using identification software. The specialty software provides more design capabilities and features.

Life Span. Paper ID cards are easily torn, wrinkled and stained through normal everyday use. You may need to replace paper ID cards every year, if not more often, depending on how the IDs are used by your employees. For a long lasting solution, create PVC ID cards using an ID card printer. PVC ID cards can last over 5 years and be displayed in badge holders, on lanyards, badge reels or strap clips.

If you’re making the change to PVC ID cards, you can save 15% on your order now by liking IDville on Facebook. Check the page each week for offers to save on your IDville purchases!
